Process Of Making Draft One: Screen Shots
This is the first starting process of making my music magazine. Firstly i included a skyline which has an offer of free posters inside. This will catch the eye of the audience and if they are a fan of the particular band it will persuade them to buy the magazine. I have also included my magazine title 'Venue' and a tag line 'The place to be..' as well as the issue number and date, also the price of my magazine, And a bar code at the bottom which is a typical convention of all magazines. All basic things that need to be included on a front cover of a magazine. My main image also stands out because it is a medium close up at she is looking directly into the camera enticing the audience to buy the magazine.

When i was happy with what i had produced i then went on to add the title of the band that will be the main feature of my magazine which in this case is 'The Rejected' (a band that i made up). Along with a pull quote that will draw the audience into reading the magazine. I also added another sell line which is introducing another bands tour dates also making the audience want to buy the magazine.

I then added a plug offering a free track download which gives the audience a chance to listen to the 'new bands' music, as well as helping to promote the band. I also coloured in the background behind the mast head making it stand out more and look bolder it also gives a more effective look of a magazine front cover instead of it looking like a poster from the audiences point of view. I also added a picture of 'Fall Out Boy' to their sell line so they will be more recognisable to the audience.
After that i went on to include another sell line which was showing a feature that will be included in my magazine. Letting the audience know what other things will be in the magazine and it will help them to have an interest in the magazine. I also used it in a different font to add variety to my front cover. Another thing i did was whiten her skin to enhance the stereotype of the rock and indie rock genre of music.
My sixth screen shot shows the addition of another sell line, this time introducing a reader reviews. This gives the audience a chance to get involved with the magazine and if they are not frequent readers of the magazine then it will help them get an idea of what the magazine is like and what is included in it. Also views from other readers will show them whether or not it is a good enough magazine.

Lastly i realised that the issue number and date, also the price of the magazine were not meant to be at the top of the magazine so i moved them near to the bar code which is where they should have been in the first place. After i had finished that i had finished the first draft of my music magazine.

Production Plan
To create my music magazine I will be using photoshop to produce a front cover, contents page and double page spread. All together I am going to do one drawn draft of each page and then two digital drafts before I post the final pages of my magazine. The reason for this is so I can compare both drafts and try to combine the best parts about them so my magazine can look as professional as possible.
The images used on the FINAL front cover, contents page and double page spread will be the images I took of my model and will all be original photos.
Props and Locations
During the making of my magazine there weren't many props or locations that i used so therefore there are not any photos to show. When i was taking the images for my magazine the props i used were a denim shirt for my model and in other images a leather jacket was used. The rest of the things included on my model were edited on Photoshop.
The location used to take these images was a small room with a nice clear background so i could get a good image that suited my magazine. This room was also good because there was no natural light coming into the room which meant i could get a good photo without any shadowing on my model.
Here are some examples of the images i took:

Cast
The model i used for my music magazine is a girl named Georgia. I took a variety of photos to see which ones would look best on my front cover, contents page and double page spread. My model is included on every page because she is from a made up band that i decided to call "The Rejected" who are the main focus of my issue of magazine.
The genre of my magazine is rock/indie so therefore I had to change a few things about the way she looked. Whilst taking the photos i had her wear clothes that would be typical of the music genre including and leather jacket or a denim shirt. Then whilst making my magazine pages i changed her hair colour to orange because the genre of music has quite a lot of quirky artists and changed her makeup so she had the more rock/indie look to her. Whist i was deciding what she was going to look like i took inspiration from artists such as Hayley Williams.

Magazine Images
These are a range of images that i took in the process of making my music magazine. The image shots varey from medium close ups to long shots and also pose shots. There is also an example of a bad framing shot to show what shouldn't happen whilst taking my main image photo.
Genre Research
Rock:
Rock music is a genre of music. It developed during and after the 1960s in the United Kingdom and the United States. It originally started in the 1940s and 1950s with the start of rock and roll. Rock and roll grew out of rhythm and blues and country music. Rock mostly uses the electric guitar as part of a rock group with bass guitar and drums. But rock has become very different and it is hard to say what its common musical instruments are. Usually the 'typical' rock musicians are white, male people. During the late 1960's a variety of different rock music genres had come out. These included blues rock, folk rock, country rock and jazz rock fusion. Many of these contributed to psychedelic rock. Popualr artists that are included in the rock genre of music are bands such as Kings of Leon, Foo Fighters, Linkin Park etc.
Indie Rock:
Indie is short for independent. This means that the music and artists will come from a label that has no connection to one of the three major labels. Indie music is usually very different to the typical 'mainstream' music and is why it is usually not a genre that is really popualr comapared to the other genres of music such as pop and hip hop. This means that indie artists will try out things, for example new or different sounds. The styles can range from rock music to house music to pop music.
A person, mainly teenagers that listen to Indie rock music are known as 'Indie Kids' to the audience that enjoy that genre of music.

This is the first drawn draft of my music magazines double page spread. The band have been shown clearly again on one side of the two pages following the conventions. Also the article has been writen in coloumns which is another convention.
Drawn Draft 1: Contents Page
This is the first drawn draft of my music magazines contents page the main feature is taking up most of the page making it clear to the audiecne what the double page spread will be focusing on.
Drawn Draft 1: Front Cover
This is the first drawn draft for the front cover of my music magazine. I think it will be a good idea to introduce a new artist/band because the audience will be intrigued to buy it so they can find out more about them.
Reader Profile
Kerrangs reader profile (bottom) gives them a clear statistic of their audience. This is a good idea because it helps the magazine to include certain features in their magazine that will reach out to the main gender that buys their magazine. Because of the higher amount of males that buy the magazine features and the colour scheme will most probably be aimed more at males. Also because the percentage that are aged from 15-24 is the highest percentage the magazine will be able to include things that will reach out to a younger audience and use a mixture of artist that both young and older people will know.
The NME magazine has done a more detailed reader profile. By finding out how much they spend on certain gigs or concerts, Clothes, Audio and DVDs. They also have done percentages of internet users console buyers and what their readers agree on. They have worked out actual averages to the age, gender and if they work full time, part time or are studying which would be very helpful for them whislt producing their magazine. By working all of these out they will be able to include things into their magazine that will reach out to the majority if their audience so it will then sell better.
